Moisture protection

But if moist walls spoil the air in the bedroom, […] then, instead of substances to promote health, only those that spoil our health are given to us.”

S. Kneipp, 1821-1897

As Sebastian Kneipp states in the quotation above, dry building components are an important criterion for freedom from damage to the building fabric and for the comfort and health of building users.

Moisture protection is understood on the one hand as the limitation of vapour diffusion-related condensation on and in component cross-sections, the protection against condensation water, the prevention of convection in components as well as the sealing of components against harmful influence of any moisture effects from outside. Parts of these tasks can be found in the planning of airtightness and thermal protection of a building as well as in the planning of ventilation concepts.

To summarize, we offer  the following services for moisture protection:

  • Moisture protection planning in conjunction with thermal protection and airtightness planning for both new buildings and existing ones
  • Consulting and assessment of existing buildings
  • Thermal bridge investigations 2- and 3-dimensional to avoid moisture damage due to low surface temperatures
  • Assessment of fungal and mold growth
  • Planning of sealing against free water (snow, rain, surface water, ground moisture, groundwater, rising moisture)
