Especially when it comes to evacuation, the requirements for structural fire protection have increased due to the large number of larger, more complex and more extensive special buildings. The conversion of existing buildings also makes it necessary to adapt the evacuation concept if the new conditions no longer correspond to the current requirements of the building regulations. An economical and sustainable solution are simulations of the flow of people and evacuation analyses. The engineering methods of fire protection are used as a basis for evaluation and analysis in order to obtain an objective and reproducible result. These evacuation analyses can, for example, make bottlenecks, convergence of pedestrian flows and hazardous points visible and offer a solution before the construction phase.
There is a need for pedestrian flow analyses and simulations in the following situations:
- Clearance and evacuation of assembly areas such as multi-purpose halls, sales outlets, stadiums or events
- Risk assessment and defense
- Resource planning to support the security forces
Particularly in the case of special structures, building supervisory authorities can demand a pedestrian flow analysis as an independent safety concept. With the PTV Viswalk software, we create an individual evacuation concept for your property, which includes checking the escape routes for danger points. The basis of our assessment is the guideline for microscopic evacuation analyses from RiMEA e.V. (as of June 8, 2009).
